Australia’s first Commercial Art Museum created by the Symond Group was commended by the NSW State Government for its innovation, design and commercial promotion of Australian Artists & their works

The Symond Group transformed a 5,500 sqm space within the historic Government Printing Office located at Harris Street Ultimo into The Sydney Art Gallery, Australia’s first Commercial Art Museum.

This unique multi-function art space predominantly functioned as a contemporary art gallery displaying for sale the works of over 800 Australian Painters & Sculptors.

Included was the Aboriginal Art Gallery, showcasing a vast array of artwork from Australia's leading indigenous artists, and the Media Art Gallery which uniquely displayed for sale the largest collection of artworks by Australia’s best known media illustrators.
